He kissed her hair, pulling her close. "Do you want to talk about it?"
They knocked on the door, and it opened within a minute. A nervous-looking young woman opened the door, peering out at them over large glasses....
He had a bit of a sour look on his face, but he looked down at her and softened. "But I'm glad you're okay."
He rubbed her back slowly, looking down at her. "Hey... you okay?"
She looked over at him gratefully, squeezing his hand. "Let's go."
"They've brought nothing but tragedy, as far as I'm concerned."
He considered her for a moment, his brows furrowed. Finally, he sighed and slipped his hands into his pockets, turning to reenter his house....
He woke several minutes later, his eyes fluttering open.
