He followed, slipping a cloak over his shoulders and following with hers.
She sighed with relief, looking up at the sky. "It's pretty beautiful, huh?"
"Why not?"
"Do you have something to say?"
"That's so cool! Can you talk?"
He stumbled slightly, looking hurt. "Well... fine. You don't have to tell me, but I'm not going to let you walk off by yourself like this."
She wrapped the blanket over his shoulder and nestled besides him, wrapping her arms around his waist.
"Yeah, that guy. Then he won't be able to say a thing."
He set the misshapen pizza on the table and began to slice it. "I think we did well."
He dropped her hand in surprise before bursting into warm laughter.
"Talk to me," he said, quietly now, his brows furrowing. "Please talk to me."
She led him forward, sitting down in the center of the room and tipping her head back to look up, her breath making clouds in the cold room.
"And your guy... what was his name, again? Larry? Lucas?"

He looked completely bewildered, brushing her hair back with his free hand. "Can you at least tell me what I did? Please?"
