He put the letter down, his shoulders looking heavy. "They're.. gone."
Francis was still watching them, his eyes gentle.
She didn't respond, remaining unconscious.
His head cocked as he began reading, his expression fading as he went and he went silent.

Her head rested limply against him, and she went still.
"Travelling new places. They're very smart scientists."
"You did so good, my love," he murmured. "Rest now."
Her eyes fluttered dangerously, and she opened her mouth to speak before blacking out.
"Of course," he replied, opening the wax seal. "They write when they can. Humans stay close to their parents."
He nodded. "Of course. Trust me."
"Please go check on her," she murmured. "I'm the second priority and she's the first.."
His expression brightened and sat down, taking the letter. "My parents!"
He pulled her close. "Don't worry."
Her voice was terrible quiet. "You're hurting me. Where's Aubrey?"
He looked back. "What is it?"
"Don't worry," he replied, his voice soothing. "She'll be okay. Besides, I'll be keeping watch, alright? You did so good."
