"Yes. Much better," he replied, grabbing pajamas and pulling them on. "Let's lay down." *** "I guess.."
He blinked, rubbing the back of his neck. "Oh, sorry. I got caught up in escaping."
"I'm dead," she replied. "You don't even care."
"Oh.." *** "Aw.."
"Of course," he said easily. "I brought you here, after all."
He pursed her lips. "Correction. I did die." Her head dropped and she stuck out her tongue.
"Neat?" *** "Hmm," she murmured, moving to slip out of his arms and get into the car. "Can I drive?"
He hesitated. "Yeah, I did. He.. I was worried about you."
"I knooow.. But I almost died."
"Oh, I like having you near as well." *** "That'd be cool," she commented. "Because I really love you."
He placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Hey.. You don't have to go. Not everyone is like that. Besides, he got what was coming to him."
"You are evil!"
"Because you're tired too?" *** "More than anything in the whole wide world!" She paused, pursing her lips. "Are we going to get married one day?"
He pulled her to the side, his expression concerned. "Are you okay?"
