"Of course," he replied, "though I don't think you'll have to worry about that."
"Well, don't."
She looked up. "Would it be okay if I sleep with you tonight..?" her voice was quiet. "It's okay, if not."
"It was for the better," he replied. "I'm much happier than I was."
"Still. You can't do that."
She looked at the ground, not saying anything more.
"It's okay with me," he said easily. "Change is okay."
"No..?"
She hesitated after a moment. "Did you mean it when you said things could never be the same as before..?"
He looked over at her, his brow furrowed. "Of course I am. Why?"
"No I don't. You're coming home with me."
"Then this time I'll fix it.. I would never leave you or Aubrey just because. I love you too much to do that."
"Hmm?"
"No drinking and driving!'
"I'm not leaving again," she said softly. "Never again."
He got into the passengers side, leaning over and kissing her cheek.
"I am not!"
She wrapped her arms around his neck, her movements gentle.
He nodded with a small smile. "Lovely."
