Avice didn't wake. She turned onto her side facing away from him, her arms pulled close.
"You're welcome," he muttered, rolling his eyes.
His eyes traveled to the ground uncertainly. "How could you expect me to not worry?"
It worked, but he still grinned, his eyes bright.
"Obviously."

He laughed. "I never lie! I will not be silenced!"
"You have quite a few bruises."

He frowned slightly. "Are you okay?"

"It's only 10," he murmured quietly.
Her hand warm in his, and she shut her eyes as well. She fell asleep at a rate which showed the she as likely more tired than she let on.
"Not once ever."
His brows furrowed, and he gently took her hand, sitting next to the couch as to not disturb.
"Sleep well," she said softly. "I love you."
