She opened her mouth to speak, but shut it with a sigh. "Sorry."
"And Landon tells me about you," she shot back. "I know you're not this innocent, liar."
"I was not," he argued. "I wasn't worried."
"I had to force them!" she said. "You were telling me that you might die.."
Callie looked at her, her expression challenging. "Cut the act."
He squinted. "I wasn't panicking."
"I had to deal with you dying," she said. "And my mom."
Callie pursed her lips. "Don't even try. Landon does the same thing."
He was quiet for a moment. "Huh.."
"Oh, yes we are."
Callie blinked, then squinted as she went to the practice round. " I'll go easy on you."
He glanced at her. "Yeah. How come?"
She laughed. " You are pretty handsome, though."
"It's easier than it looks," she reassured.
He stood up and went to the kitchen, pouring water and ice into a glass.
"I've already fallen madly in love you," she jokingly complained. "Now you're just gonna look more attractive!"
"You have to learn the controls and then we'll play a test round."
He sighed. "I'm gonna grab some water."
"You have a scratch," she said. "Your scars are gonna make you look cooler."
Callie handed her a remote, her lips pursed. "So.. Press that button," she said, cocking her head. "It'll show you the controls."
