He shook his head. "I don't know. Maybe you can wear one of these coats and put your hair up or something?"
He chuckled. "I don't mind."
She shook her head again, resisting. "I don't want to sleep."
Landon noticed, but didn't comment. "Yeah.. Let's go."

Landon's face was an expression of fear. "I think you might kill me one day."
His brow furrowed. "Spin for me."
She relaxed in his arms, returning the embrace tightly. "I'm so sorry."
Landon kneeled carefully. "Is she okay?"
He sighed. "I'll let you go."
She took a shaky breath, resting her head on his chest. "I need to finish my work."
Landon stepped to the side, his expression worried.
There were tears in her eyes, and her hands hovered uncertainly over his chest. Her voice came out in a whisper that cracked. "I hate them."
Landon stopped, rushing to the cell with a whisper. "Val! Valerie!"
"Then how can I ignore what others have said?" Her voice was hushed. "That's what they told me. They told me bad things. They did bad things."
He squinted at her. "We'll see."
