She looked up at him, a hand traveling discreetly across her back under her shirt as her fingers brushed the scars she learned to hate. "I'm not."
Francis went back to worrying, and Landon caught up to Val just in time. "I'm here!" he said, a bit out of breath. "Sorry."
He raised an eyebrow. "I don't know if I completely trust you right now."
She shrugged, trying to get rid of the look. "I just know I'm not the best."
He looked up at her, his arms crossed. "God, I hope so."
