Avice pulled away rather hastily, mostly out of surprise.
"I like you too," he sighed. "We can be beat friends."
"That's true," he said. "It's all good."
She smiled slightly, moving to him gently. "Of course."
He tilted his head. "Are you sure? Bart is a pretty neat raccoon."
"Maybe," he said agreeably. "I did say it first, after all."
She pursed her lips, looking up at him. "Okay. I won't bring it up any more, if that's any help."
"I am not," he said firmly. "I just feel betrayed."
"But supposedly you've loved me a lot longer," he said, sipping his coffee.
"Is.. that a good thing?" she asked, her eyebrow raised.
"Whatever," he mumbled. "Have fun with your best friend."
He grinned. "You've certainly one-upped me, then."
"I love you too," she told him. "A lot."
"Ugh," he groaned. "Fine."
"Did you love me?" he asked with a teasing grin.
She moved and rested her head against his chest. "Sorry for arguing."
"Don't tell the cops, then."
He chuckled. "Okay. I believe you."
