"We're arguing? We shouldn't be arguing, especially when the answer is clear."
"Since primary school," he answered. "Obviously."
"That's true, but obvious."
"This isn't a fight," she said back, frowning. "It's a conversation."
"You just met him," he told her. "He can't be your best friend."
"Was I different?" he asked. "Maybe towards you."
"That's not fair," she said. "I don't understand how you can't see the truth."
"I'm his best friend," he said. "He won't mind."
He looked up at her, tilting his head. "When we first met? Sometimes. Why?"
She squinted at him. "Why not?"
He sighed. " Fine. I won't judge him."
"Right," he said. "My job schedule is exciting."
"Well," she said, raising an eyebrow, "I think you should realize that it wasn't your fault."
"Bart is a very preeminent and independent raccoon, okay?"
"It's usually kind of random," he explained, looking back at her. "I'll try to figure it out."
