"Newts?" she asked, tilting her head. "They're tough to find."
He stepped out of the car, sighing as he grabbed his bag.
She moved her first piece, glancing up at him after she did so.
He kissed her cheek, stepping into the kitchen, where Elizabeth looked up. "Oh, hey you two. Did you find any salamanders?"
(Yeah, that should work.)
She nodded, folding her hands. "Yep!"
"Fish can be better than dogs."
(Yep!)
"I'll work harder to beat you, then."
"I bet he does," he said. "That's exactly why I want to get home."
He got into his car and left, watching the house in the rear view mirror as he did.
"If I win can I have another kiss?" she asked amusedly, her head tilting.
"Yeah," he agreed. "I'm excited to get home."
He nodded, kissing her cheek before heading to his car.
"I'm not going to take any chances," she said. "I'll stick to playing with you for now."
"Yeah," he said. "We won't be staying much longer."
"Great," he said. "I'll see you tomorrow then."
She smiled against his lips, her hand resting on the side of his neck. "Thank you," she told him. "I appreciate it."
He nodded, taking her hand. "Yeah."
