"Um... Yeah, I did." He looked at the ground. "Sorry."
He sighed, lying there for a bit as he watched the leaves shudder in the breeze.
She listened to his heart beat, finding the rhythmic sound soothed her. Not long after did she drift off as well.
He raised an eyebrow, evidently surprised. "What?"
He kissed her again, shifting. "I love you."
She turned her head into his shirt and inhaled, feeling content.
"I think he missed," he answered slowly.
"Good," he said. "I'll have to do it more often."
"Noted," she said, kissing his cheek. "Thank you."
He watched her for a moment before answering. "I think so."
He laughed. "It's my favorite trick."
"That works," she said. "Does today count as one?"
He glanced her, allowing himself to follow.
"Tricky?" he asked. "Like how?"
She kissed him, her lips soft. "I will take care of myself on the weekday," she said teasingly. "You get the weekends."
He jumped away once Evan was down. "Leave us alone, Evan!"
"The perfect plan, in my opinion," he said.
She nodded. "A lot better," she said. "Thank you."
Francis ducked easily, dodging the hit only to jump and tackle him at the remark.
