She crossed her arms. "You said anything."
"You didn't give a very good example, Evan. How did she break her fingers?"
"Okay," he said. "I'm fine with that."
"Ugh," she muttered in annoyance, her expression stubborn. "Then lay with me."
"I don't," he defended, "but she's my friend."
"No," he said. "Just thought I'd warn you."
"I could ask anything of you?" she questioned. "Like, if I want you to sleep on a bed instead of sitting with me?"
"I don't believe you," he said firmly. "Not one bit."
"You can if you'd like," he said, half-joking. "There may be ants, though."
"Can we get a cat once we don't live on the ship anymore?"
"She is not insane," he said, his tone angry. "You're the liar."
He kissed the top of her head. "I love you too."
"Good," she said, her hand resting on the side of his neck. "Hey, Jack?"
"Is that why she was crying on the lab floor?" he asked, stepping up to Evan.
He chuckled slightly, brushing her hair with his free hand. "I know."
"I promise you," she said quietly. "You too?"
"Did you threaten her?" he repeated, his voice strong.
"You're the one who is lying," he said, raising an eyebrow.
