"Okay," she said, squeezing his hand. "I believe you."
"Right." He nodded. "I won't let you forget."
"Concerned citizens," Miles said with a nod.
She smiled slightly, looking up at him. "Even if I'm not completely normal?"
"Okay," he said. "I'll do that."
Francis mumbled something to Miles, and he put his hand on his shoulder heavily. "Do you put your hands on your girlfriend?"
"Yeah, but you should be able to do that," she said. "Normal people would allow it, right?"
"That's what I thought. I'll have to remind you often."
"Yes," he said sternly. "It is so that I can inform you that you are a prick, and that you suck."
"It's okay," she repeated. "I don't blame you. I should be getting used to it now, anyways."
"Obviously," he said, smiling brightly. "Marriage, remember?"
Miles grinned. "You heard me. You kind of remind me of an annoying freshman, y'know?"
She looked at at him, her expression discernable before she reached up and kissed his cheek. "It's okay. It's not your fault."
"More than coffee."
"Why you gotta be so stiff?" he asked, poking him roughly in the stomach. "You seem like a major ass."
She wasn't quite expecting it, and tensed at first, but didn't shrug away. "I was just teasing. I think you're good."
"I love you too." He smiled slightly. "A lot."
After a moment Miles opened the door. "Hey, annoying kid!" He voice was loud as he barked at Evan. He and Francis had similar tones when they...
"Nope!" she said, her grin playful. "Only you."
"I know," he said. "I trust you."
