"Poppy," he said, his tone concerned. "Can't we just do what I asked? I can call my own taxi."
"Back off, Evan. I wasn't trying anything," he warned, his eyes narrow.
"Perfect," she said, nodding. "I'd be really sad."
He sighed, then sat up. "Alright, fine. You should probably drink some water and then go to bed, though."
"We were specifically assigned," he said. "Are you jealous or something?"
"Yeah, that's pretty bad too." She looked up at him. "You know I'd never do that to you, right?"
"I just don't want to leave you," he said, watching her.
"How do you suppose we finish our schoolwork?" he asked innocently.
"Yeah, it was petty bad," she agreed. "Those guys are jerks."
He covered his eyes with a hand in response. "Ughh. Yes, but I don't want to."
Francis smiled slightly, almost as if he was enjoying the anger. "Can't we just talk this out?"
Avice frowned, but took Jack's hand and headed for the door.
