He rubbed her arm, his touch light. "That's very kind, Poppy. I think you're lovely as well."
"Yeah," she said, nodding. "I'll remind you."
"I apologize," he said, squeezing her hand. "She gets like this when she's loopy."
"I don't want you to forget this," she said softly, running her fingers through his hair.
He raised an eyebrow, but nodded. "It's true."
She was unsure of what to do, as this was new to her mostly. "What are you thinking about?"
Francis was quiet, only holding her hand with a worried look on his face.
She tilted her head, and seemed in thought for a moment. Hesitantly, she nodded. "I can do that," she said, lying down next to him. "Like this?"
His hand, which was still trembling, held hers tightly, and his thumb ran gently along the top. He didn't say anything, but watched her carefully.
"Yes," she said, raising an eyebrow. "C'mon, it's better if you sleep. For me?"
Francis stood, lightly brushing his hand over Poppy's. "Can I come with? We're engaged."

Francis sat back and watched helplessly. He ran a shaky hands through his hair nervously, but kept silent.
