"I love you, too," he said quietly, kissing the top of her head.
"You have to. I deserve one."
He put his arm around her, gently rubbing her back. "You please, trust me."
She shook her head. "Nope. I'm gonna need an apology."
"Yes," he said, his voice affectionate. "Yes, that works well. Thank you for informing me."
"You shouldn't be mad. I'm the one who's supposed to be mad." She raised an eyebrow, a small grin on her face.
"Well, how did you think I changed?" he asked curiously, his eyes bright.
"You should be," she said, her tone scolding. "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed."
He turned his head to look at her, his eyebrow raised. "So?"
"I honestly don't think I like you any more," she said flatly.
"Yep," he said, a small grin on his face. "You are."
"I think you're a nice person," she said calmly, cocking her head. "But not when you make fun of me."
"I might only be like it towards you," he said, half joking. "You never know."
"I told you!" She frowned at him. "I knew you were being mean to me."
"Have I?" he asked, a small smile on his face. "Better or worse?"
She squinted at him, her eyebrows furrowing. "I don't like it."
"I'm the head of the department," he said smoothly. "It's just stuff that I can do whenever, and if it needs to be dealt with, then I'll know."
"Jack, I don't like it when you tease me," she said slowly, raising an eyebrow. "Especially over something as stupid at that."
"It'd be sad to have to leave you," he replied. "Don't worry, I can stay as long as you'd like."
"I don't like when you make fun of me," she said, pursing her lips.
