(I can relate) "Fine," she said, pursing her lips. "I think you are the best person."
"Good," he said, kissing the top of her head. "I can do it less, if you want."
"I'm sorry about that," she said sarcastically. "If you want my affections then just ask."
"I know," he said, "but I still like doing it."
"I said you were my best friend," she said lowly, squinting at him. "Calm down."
He gently brushed her cheek again, observing her features before their lips met. Once he pulled away, he gave a soft smile. "You're so beautiful."
"I'd still trust you," she said. "Probably because you're my best friend."
"Of course," he said, concern crossing his face. "I don't cheat on people."
"That doesn't mean I don't trust you enough. At least you went to medical school."
"Good, good." He nodded. "I'm glad."
"If I get struck by lightning," she said, "I'll rely on you to heal me."
He felt his heartbeat quicken, his eyes wide. "Are you sure there would be nobody else?"
"According to legends," she replied, raising an eyebrow excitedly, "I regret nothing."
He pulled away for a moment, looking lovingly into her eyes. "Thank you for being with me."
"The gods suck!" she exclaimed quietly, a rebellious smile on her face.
He shifted, moving to where he could kiss her, the action passionate.
She nodded, her eyes stuck on the ground before she looked up at him, observing his features. "Oh, okay. Sounds cool."
He chuckled slightly, turning his head to kiss her cheek. "God, I've missed you so much."
She flinched slightly, but said nothing about it. "Ah.. Yeah. What are you going to look for?"
He tilted his head slight, reaching his hand up to lightly graze her jaw.
