"Followed? What do we do?" he asked calmly, not turning his head to look around.
She paused, feeling her heart skip a beat for some reason. "It's no problem."
He grinned, squeezing her hand lightly. "Good. Mine does too."
Cut the carp, Pinguuna!
"I'm just teasing you," she said, patting his shoulder. "Like I said, I would never hurt you."
He kissed her lightly, a slight grin on his face. "See? We are soul mates."
She let go, smiling slightly. "I'm gonna make you fight a shark one day."
"Okay, sounds good to me," he said, then paused. "I've missed being with you."
She stopped and took his hand, holding it up. "Would you rather punch me or a shark?"
"Where do you usually walk to?" he asked curiously.
"That's lame." She crossed her arms. "But sirens look kinda like people, which makes it hard."
"That's true. Looks like you can take care of yourself, which is good." He smiled slightly, shaking his head. "Nobody would stand a chance."
"Sirens are annoying. You have to wear earplugs. But sharks, you just poke them in the eyes and they'll go away for a bit."
"I could see that being a problem." He lightly kissed her cheek. "Damn, now I'm probably going to worry."
"Um, no thanks. I'd rather just jump off again. Maybe I'll fight sharks next fine, huh?"
He gently padded the dogs head, then looked up. "Has he ever had to attack anyone?"
"Have you worried about that before?" she asked.
"Oh, I see," he said smoothly, watching the dog curiously. "What breed is he?"
"And why's that? Because now you know you can betray my trust?" She raised an eyebrow.
"What happens if you say it on accident?" he asked. "And is Derrick your boss?"
