She fell asleep as well, her face tucked into his shoulder.
He looked down at her curiously. "I thought you did."
They continued, eventually making it to the upper city. It was cleaner and less bustling, the stones in the cobble road shining.
She was quiet as well, simply holding him gently.
"Why don't we go scope it out first?" he suggested.
She kissed his temple, just keeping him close. "It's alright."
He rolled his eyes and dropped his arm. "I am not flirting with the blacksmith."
"You don't have to apologize," she said quietly, rubbing his back.
"I don't bully you," he retorted, "this is just unfair."
"It's okay," she murmured softly, gently pulling him closer as she hugged him, taking care to watch out for his wings. "It's okay."
He kept them crossed stubbornly. "I don't like this. You're bullying me after I was kind."
She scooted closer, resting her hand on his jaw as she planted kisses on his forehead, nose, and cheek.
"Okay, firstly, a compliment doesn't have to be flirting. Secondly, I was asleep! How am I supposed to control that."
She laid down as well, turning face him.
"That was not flirting," he said stubbornly, crossing his arms.
She watched him, her expression concerned before she nodded. "Okay."
He scoffed, looking down at her. "Why do I have to say it?"
She reached over, rubbing his shoulder gently.
