"I assumed there was more to the story," he said with a small shrug.
She nodded, going quiet.
He looked over again, his head tilting. "What for?"
"Whatever," she said warmly, closing her eyes. "It feels okay now."
He frowned as well, but looked ahead. "Alright."
"Maybe I'm still the bore," she teased, "since you're always falling asleep around me."
"I believe you," he reassured, "I just feel like there's more you aren't saying."
She laughed, scooting close and resting her head on his shoulder. "Are you going back to sleep?"
He was quiet, as if expecting her to continue to get the rest out.
She looked over at him curiously.
He listened respectfully. "Is life on the farm... good? Is it fulfilling?"
She folded her hands in her lap, looking confused. "How am I special?"
He exhaled slowly. "That's a lot.. What are they like?"
She looked over at him hesitantly. "Different?"
"How's your family life?" he asked, moving on. "How many siblings do you have?"
"Oh," she said thoughtfully, leaning back, "sorry.."
"Do you have any other celebrations?" he asked. He sounded interested, his head tilted curiously.
She noticed the look and frowned. "What's wrong?"
He tipped his head back. "I see. How often do you do that?"
She frowned slightly. "You often dismiss it for something else. I like you because you're you."
