He went quiet, crossing his arms again nervously.
She looked a little startled. "Wouldn't you rather me learn to better myself? I don't need you to protect me."
He still seemed guilty, his brows furrowed. It wasn't a common look on him. "I'm sorry."
"He was a faerie though," she tried to defend. "He.. He told me to be brave."
"I just haven't.. I don't know. I'm not used to that."
"That's the problem," she said quietly. "You don't believe me. I wish you believed me."

He didn't really hug her back, but at the same time he didn't pull away. He felt conflicted.
