She closed her eyes again with a small nod. "Good."
(Zoop!) Abel woke the next morning, looking around sleepily.
"A little," she admitted. "Do you have to go back to work tonight?"
He didn't wake, keeping asleep.
He was asleep in the other room, frowning in his sleep.
She leaned into his touch, closing her eyes.
It took awhile for him to sleep, but eventually he drifted off.
"I will," she reassured. "Don't worry."
He got up, taking his pillow and going into the living room, plopping down on the beanbag.
She looked up at him. "I'm okay.."
He waited for her to sleep, keeping quiet.
She buried her face in his neck. "I love you."
He hugged her, his brows furrowed. "I love you too."
"I think he had some idea where you lived," she suggested, "and he may have watching."
He got into the bed slowly, wrapping his arms around her.
He went into the bedroom silently, seeming hesitant to even get into it with her.
She held onto him, burying her face in his shirt. "I'm just gonna call you next time there's no cabs.."
He could recognize the tone of her voice, and he sighed. "Let's just.. go to bed."
She shook her head, her hands trembling. "I-I'm okay.. I'm so glad you were there. I'm so glad."
He frowned slightly, looking down at her. "You don't believe me?"
