Excellent ideas folks. I am currently working on my first fanfic as we speak. It has nothing to do with this topic but is training ground for later stories. One of the first ones I will tackle is a blind pony. These suggestions are definitely helping with the character development.
Now that I have completed writing my first fanfic I have started to think deeper about my character. I want to base him off myself in many ways but I think he will be younger to start with...since I will be writing a series of stories. I've decided to name my character "Miracle." He's about the same age as the CMC's and doesn't have his cutie mark either. Miracle and his family are from Canterlot and Princess Celestia advised him to move to Ponyville to study under Twilight to use his magic to help him get around and be productive in life. That's pretty much as far as I have gotten in thought about my character...I guess I should call Miracle an OC, correct? BTW does anyone know how to draw OCs? I'm not very good at that kind of stuff.
I agree, it be cool to see a blind pony on MLP FiM. Plus I think it be cool for the blind or visibly impaired people who watch it because honestly, there are rarely any handicapped characters. I would love to see this happen again.. Thank you for bringing this to the spotlight
Before I continue I have a question for the Mods - Should this thread be moved to Developmental Diaries considering the direction the thread is taking?) I am continuing to flesh out my character and what is going to happen with him. Miracle is a blind unicorn colt that was born in Canterlot. He was only given six weeks to live when he was born but he has continued to beat the odds. His parents, Rhubarb (Dad) and Holly Berry (Mom) are very protective and Miracle has lived somewhat of a sheltered life. Like the other citizens of Canterlot, Miracle's parents attended the wedding (at the end of Season 2). Both of them would end up killed during the Changeling invasion. Miracle, along with others, were being foal sat elsewhere in the castle, away for the commotion. As a result, Miracle is now a resident of a new Orphanage in Canterlot (hasn't been built yet so somewhere in the castle). Princess Celestia has noticed his magic ability (that Miracle has been using subconsciously - like Harry Potter before he knew he was a wizard). She will end up asking Twilight Sparkle to train him in using magic because she senses that Miracle will be an asset to Equestria one day. Miracle is 8 years old (or about the same age as the CMC"s) and is a grey unicorn colt with blonde hair and blue eyes. He does not have his cutie mark yet. I'm really, really excited about the stories I am going to write about Miracle. I already know what happens but I ain't telling. All I will say is that messages of acceptance and that you can overcome any obstacle you can set your mind to will be presented.
