Taffy looked out again, gulped, then looked back at Kala. She sighed. "Well... Alright..." She was still a bit unsure, but she trusted Kala.
"yay!" she picked up Taffy and flew out the window, slowly descending towards the ground. "how does flying feel?"
Taffy stepped back onto firm ground happily, then looked around. "That way!" She declared, confidently, pointing towards the peak again, and following the path. Now she just had to guide them safely through the swamp...
(Sorry, I forgot ) "Careful!" Taffy warned, looking at the vines and hanging moss that stretched between the trees. It would be easy for a pegasus to get tangled up; just like it would be easy for a earth pony to get bogged down in the marshy ground. "Um... this may not have been the best way after all," She admitted, pulling her hoof free of the muck and struggling forward a few feet, before stopping again to swat one of the many gnats buzzing around her.
"yeah." Kala lowered herself nearer to the ground and warded the insects off with her wings. "the treetops don't leave much room for me, and the ground doesn't look much better" she thought for a moment. "I could carry again. you won't get far in that mud, and I can fly low to avoid vines"
Taffy thought for a moment, sinking slowly further into the mud. "Well... If you think ya can..." She said, not wanting to be a burden. "Ah don't think this swampy should last that much longer anyway..." She added, inspecting the map once more.
Kala nodded. "ok" she picked up her companion and began flying along the path. "tell me when to land. flying through this is going to take all of my attention"
Taffy nodded and gave a little salute. "Will do!" She kept her eyes on the ground, looking for the end of the swamp, or any possible threats. "What the-?" She said, a little while later, frowning, "Ah think that log jus' moved... Wait! That ain't no log! It's an alligator!" She looked up at Kala desperately. "Keep flyin'!"
The alligator looked up at them lazily, then turned and swam off, uninterested. Apparently they wouldn't have made much of a meal. "Alright, Ah think we're safe now," Taffy said, as they left the swamp and it's inhabitants behind. "Ya can put me down now."
"Umm.... That way!" Taffy said, pointing towards a particularly dark and ominous looking section of forest. She trotted into it, just happy to be on firm ground again.
"I don't like this" Kala whispered as they traveled deeper into the forest. "it seems extremely ominous" she said, peering into the shadows
"Ah-Ah'm sure it'll be fine..." Taffy replied, trying to sound confident. "Ah mean, what's the worst thing we could come acro-" She froze as she spotted an enormous spider watching them from the branches of the tree above them.
