Kala follows her gaze. "oh no" she edged towards Taffy, then suddenly grabbed her and flew along the path as fast as she could
(*falls over from the bumps* Sorry! ) "Ahh! No! Watch out for the.....web...." Taffy cried frantically, just as they flew into a barely visible web that had stretched across the path and got stuck. "This ain't good..." She said, trying to wriggle free, unsuccessfully. She thought quickly, then tried to get to her bag, but couldn't quite get to it. "Kala! Can ya reach ma bag from there?" She asked, hopefully, trying to ignore the spider approaching them. She could've sworn it was smirking...
"I'll try" she said, reaching with her wing. "got it!" she said as she wrapped the end of her wing and moved it towards Taffy
Taffy reached inside, and pulled out and oil gun. She sprayed it over the web behind them, breaking the adhesion and allowing them to slip free of the web. They were both oily now, but at least that meant they shouldn't get stuck in any more webs. "Alright, now ruuuuuun!" Taffy cried, picking up her bag and running from the bemused looking spider.
They kept running until they were out of breath, and the forest had been left behind them, the spider giving up it's pursuit as they entered the morning light. It hissed at them, and scuttled back into the shadows. Taffy collapsed on the warm grass, panting as she tried to catch her breath. "Ah think Ah got a stitch..." She complained, smiling. She was just happy they hadn't been eaten.
Taffy just pulled the map out of her bags, and passed it over to her. She was far too busy recovering to look at a map right then. She'd marked the path anyway...
"ok, sooooo that way!" she said pointing down a path that led to a mountain. beside the path was a small cabin. "It's getting late. we should rest in there"
Taffy sat up, looking at where Kala was pointing, then at the darkening sky, then at the tower where they had last slept; it was quite far away now... "Hmm... Yeah, you're probably right," She said, getting up. "Ah am pretty tired, and I don't fancy the idea of climbing that path in the dark... Okay! Lead on friend!" She said, grinning and slapping Kala gently on the back.
"Hey!" she said indignantly as they began to trot towards the cabin. "what was that for?" she said, embarrassed (for lack of a better word)
The door swung open as she knocked on it; empty. Whoever'd lived here was long gone. The building seemed solid enough though, and there was still a little stove, and a pile of dry hay they could sleep on. Taffy went inside and started fiddling with the stove.
Kala walked in, closing the door behind her."now to make sure nothing sneaks in during the night" she began looking for things to pile in front of the door
Taffy managed to get the stove lit using the bellows somepony had usefully left, then turned to help Kala with the door, propping some wood up against the door handle; it wouldn't stop anything really determined to get in, but it should give them time to escape if they had to.
"No problem," Taffy replied, smiling. She gave Kala a blanket again, before snuggling up under her own to sleep.
