The true irony of all these moral debates is that it's the children who suffer. It's families that are being destroyed. It's common decency and society under attack. Not by gay people, but by people attacking the gay people. Being LGBT isn't some alien race that lives on a different planet, we ARE families, children, society, everyday people, just trying to live life. I have the unique perspective of having been raised in Massachusetts, where, yes we've only had marriage equality since 2004, we have also had adoption and nondiscrimination laws in place for quite some time. So there are people here who were born with same-sex parents and are now voting age. No great atrocities have come of treating everyone equally; in fact the opposite - every major medical and psychological association has studied what's happening in Massachusetts and has determined that BECAUSE of equality being the norm, there are less suicides, there is less violence, there are less children who are homeless or raised in broken households. If you support family values, you should support civil rights. It's so stupidly obvious, that it's the reason why I get so upset with people claiming the opposite without any data, without any facts, they just hold this discrimination up on a pedestal as some kind of good thing, that does nothing but hurt people and our society.
