"Well, these might come in handy," Ray replied, tapping one of the cannons aboard the enemy ship with a hoof. "And there's a half decent armoury down below; go have a look, take anything you fancy, then get back up here to help me; We'll take their cannons, burn their sails, then leave 'em drifting; s'long as you have no objections?"
Jack was already on the other ship, going down to take a look at the armory. "I might be able to modify a few things on the armor. Who knows. I have no objections to any of that though."
Once they had pilfered everything of value or use from the ship, they enacted their plan, leaving the three remaining boarding ponies adrift on their ship."Well, either that'll show Hammerwing that we're not to be messed with, or it'll make him more determined to show us our insides." He looked at the gear they had 'acquired'. "Still, at least we won't go hungry any time soon." He smiled as he set course for Saddleport once more.
Jack, meanwhile, had been staring at some interesting armor that he found, determining if he could possibly modify it to be stronger then what it currently was. He paced around it, just analyzing it, focused.
Ray whistled a maritime tune as he locked the ship's steering on course and checked the rigging. After one final scan of the horizon confirmed that they weren't being pursued, he went to see how Jack was getting on; he was inspecting some of the armour from the enemy ship. "It won't bite ya know," Ray said, jokingly.
"I'm just thinking of what I can do with it." Jack poked it with his hoof, thinking. "It's not bad, but you need to fix it."
"Well, I haven't got much in the way of smithing equipment onboard, but it might be worth using this loot to buy some when we get to Saddleport; I'm sure it would come in handy." Ray looked over his shoulder. "For now, we'd better get rid of our departed friends over there before they start stinkin' up the place".
"How do you want to take care of them? Burial at sea-type thing?" Jack didn't know, as he had never been a pirate before, but he knew certain things were done a certain way at sea, and this was one of those things.
Ray nodded. "Aye. It's much the same as a burial anywhere else really, only with less digging. We'll need some chain and some sheets, should be some down in the cargo hold; it's not a burial if they float back up again."
Ray placed each pony in a sheet with a length of chain, rolled them up, then expertly sewed the sheets closed. He levitated the bodies over to the edge of the boat, and raised them one by one over the waves below. "Merciful Celestia; please guide the souls of those whose bodies we now commit to the deep. Fate had us meet as foes, and they may not have lead righteous lives, but the sea makes brothers and sisters of us all. May they find peace." When the words were said, he let the bodies fall from his telekinetic grasp, and watched them slip below the surface, disappearing into the depths.
Jack just watched, a bit in thought at something. ((BAH. I forgot, my apologies. I'm all getting ready for Quakecon next week this skipped my brain.))
"Well, here's to them then!" Ray said, turning back from the side of the ship and pouring out two tots of rum. He downed his then returned to the ship's wheel, to check they were still on course. (No worries; everyone seems slow on the rps atm )
The rest of the journey to Saddleport was relatively incident free; they saw a sea monster in the distance during a storm, but thankfully it left them alone, and Ray had even had time to show Jack the basics of setting the sails. All the same, he was glad when they drew up to the dock of the town, such as it was. Saddleport was nowhere near as large as the port they had sailed from, but it'd have what they needed, and Ray hoped there were would be fewer unfriendly eyes on them. After they had moored up, Ray set off to find the harbourmaster. "Why don't you see if you can find the local blacksmith?" He suggested to Jack as they walked along. "See if you can't get some of that smithing equipment we talked about?"
