I don't see a point in it if it's there, quite literally, to just be there. That's just me though, so I don't really care either way. As long as it isn't abused, it's whatever.
As a fan of chaos, I wholeheartedly approve of adding a "Like" system to the site. As a person that would rather not see more site drama, I would also like to add that it's probably not a good idea. While it would be nice if all of this site's members were mature enough to not abuse such a system, I'm sure that most of us realize that such is not the case.
Wintermute Henry Ridley Wolf I'd like to direct your attention to this post, because it seems like you're talking about the version of a like system that gives "points" to people. I presented an idea where a like system merely affects how posts get displayed to each individual based on what members they like or dislike. The way this idea works, if someone abuses the like system, it only affects the way the site is presented to them, not anyone else. Based on the posts you three have made I wasn't sure if you saw this idea.
I said nothing of points. I merely stated that this concept isn't something that is required for the successful function of the forum, which is proven by the fact that this idea is currently that which it is. That is to say: This idea is only an idea right now. The point I'm trying to get across is that this isn't something strictly necessary and that we don't know how many people would actually want something of this nature; me thinks there would be people who like the concept, and those that would not, and a large chunk of people who simply would either have no opinion or not care. Which brings me to my point: Why not set up an official poll for the matter and decide whether this is a thing that should be done before discussing the semantics of how it could be done?
Here's the thing. There's no real point in adding such a system, but there's no real harm it could cause either, so if some people would like it, why not give it a shot?
When you look at it that way, it might be nice to have a poll, just to see what the unspoken majority think.
Poll would be good. Should be put into the community post as a suggestion for the weekly poll idea Ridley Wolf gave in another thread. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
