Heh, I just assume that most of the internet is that way (liberal, I mean), because it's mostly young-ish people. (I am young, so that's kind of a weird sort of... y'know. I am really tired so I don't want to think of whatever that would be called.) So my views are usually not widely held...anywhere...on the internet. But I try to get along with everypony.
I don't agree with most republican values. I'm a supporter of Pon Raul. I hate Ritt Momney, and I very greatly dislike Oarack B'bama. I just wish Sill J'tein won... EDIT: For clarification, I agree with Republican immigration policies, I dislike Obamacare, I VERY much agree with Republican drug policies. The only thing I dislike about Republicans is that they are typically against gay marriage.
I'm pretty sure there is a large majority of republican or libertarian ponies out there. I just see allot more of them take the sidelines. Thats mostly due to the crazy hate on republicans in public anymore. Now if we could just get a republican in office that would just go with society on gay marriage and let that be that, and legalize pot then maybe the view of us would get better xD.
Figured as much, though I do not truly agree with Mitt as much as it says. If I could vote and Ron Paul was the nominee, I would vote for him.
I swear, when the day comes that Texas finally gets the gohonez to secede again, I won't be surprised.
I didn't know that much about Gary Johnson before this, but now I'm starting to like him. While he doesn't seem to be in favor of Gay Marriage per se, because he thinks that churches should decide who they marry, he does seem to be in favor of Gay Rights and I believe he would stop the government from passing laws that prohibit gays from being married. However, I wish we still had a candidate who wanted to kill the Federal Reserve. I feel very strongly about that. In fact, along with the environment, freedom over the internet, and gay marriage, it's one of the issues that is most important to me. I agree, though it seems that Gary Johnson has moved away from his Republican roots. Just look at me: I usually swing Democrat, and he was my highest result. I think that's both an oversimplification and a highly pessimistic view.
Oh? In this system we either have a party in power that believes people shouldn't so much as take a breath without the government telling them how deeply they can breathe, or we have a party of religious nutjobs who believe in talking snakes.
Again, I believe that is a generalization. Clearly there are more than two parties/candidates. Besides, while it may be true that politicians with the more extreme views get a lot of attention, many elections in the U.S. (such as those for Senate or House seats) are held between candidates that have differing views but can still debate intelligently.
Speaking of debates, I can't wait for the first presidential debate, Obama's going to pick Romney to pieces.
@ Dilly: When politicians are involved, it's always lose-lose. That's my view on things. Like I said: Picking the lesser of two (or more) evils. None of them ever do what they say they're going to do, anyways. They only say it because it gets them votes. As for gay rights, I have mixed feelings. Of course, anti-hate crime laws should be put in place, and they should have the right to serve in the military, and all the same rights as heterosexuals, because they are people, after all, and don't deserve to have fewer rights than others. But gay marriage, and really homosexuality in general, is something I'm against. It was obviously never intended (whether by God, or Nature or Evolution, it doesn't matter) for men to be paired with men and women with women. That's my view, and I'm sticking to it. I'm not trying to sway any of you; I'm just stating my opinion.
I thought we were all ultra-liberal happy communist folk. Now. I like Ron Paul, but I don't like his stance on abortion. Pro-Choice is happiness. And, of course, I'm right and everyone else is completely wrong.
I do think it's possible to have a sincere politician who wants to do the good things he/she says he/she will do. However, since those appear to be so few and far between, I will agree that a voter must be educated in order to make a rational choice when deciding who to vote for. I will also agree that not every voter's views will line up exactly with every politicians views. I support some aspects of Obama's views, as well as some aspects of Johnson's views. That's interesting. Would you mind if I casually inquired something? There are many gay animals in nature, i.e. animals that will choose to have sexual interactions with the same sex. Notable examples are Bonobos (a type of monkey) and deer. Did you know that? Also, I support a full separation of church and state, which means I don't support the passing of a law that would require churches to marry gays, but rather I would support the passing of a law that would make it unconstitutional for gay marriage to be outlawed, as there are churches that support it. My friend's mother helps to run one. Thanks for stating your opinion, legion. I want you to know how much I value it.
