Another thing: I never even heard of Jill or Gary before this. THere are more than two parties in the US? WHat has the world come to?

But two parties are nothing. What if you don't even identify remotely with either party?

so murder the government. Then what, find out the new one is just as bad. So then murder the government. Then what, rinse and repeat forever.

I'm an independant, but I generally support the Democrats. What's really sad is that the Republicans actually had a really good candidate this year: John Huntsman. He's a nice guy, he's intelligent, his policies aren't terribly extreme and in his spare time, he plays in a rock and roll band (he's even played with REO Speedwagon a couple of times)! See, that's the kind of guy you WANT running for president. From any objective point of view, Mitt Romney is a horrible candidate. If it were Obama VS Huntsman, I would actually have to think about who to vote for and might conceivably vote Republican for the first time. But Obama VS Romney, the choice is obvious.

I have one Republican friend in particular who thinks that the choice is obvious, but he says he would vote for Romney. Lucky for me, he's not old enough to vote (I also feel like he just ingests and replicates his parent's political views, but that's beside the point).

I see two main problems with Mitt Romney.

    1) He seems to have a lot of changes in opinion and policy. First his idea is to do one thing, and then it's to do another. To me, that means that we might elect this guy and then he'll do whatever he wants, irrespective of what he promised. At least with Obama, I feel like we got what we asked for. He's stuck to the policies that he said he would, and he has tried to the things he said he would try to do. Romney seems like too much of a wild card.

    2) He plays way too much to the far-right extremists in his party. I always thought that his views were much more central than he has made them out to be thus far in the election (example of my first point). He has also said some things about gay people that have honestly made me uncomfortable. Americans are not all bigots, and Romney needs to stop trying to be something that he's not (although, with all due fairness to Mitt, do we really know what he thinks?).

I'm sure you guys have seen this ad before. It was from earlier in the election, but if you don't know what to think of Mitt Romney, this might clarify a few things.

Obama got trampled in the debate because he doesn't have a clue what to do without a teleprompter in his face.

He's still gonna win the election though because the populace still thinks he's their messiah.

Even if we tore everything up and built it up again, people would find ways to corrupt and destroy it.

Take Communism. It looks good on paper, but no country has come close to successfully applying it.

Even with every minor branch of Libertarianism, anarchism (Anarcho Capitalism for example) there would be a time where humans would trample all over one another, no matter how fancy the term sounds. Give a spoilt child a toy, they will break it and demand a new one, only to break it again.

Also, Mitt Romney is just AWFUL. [IMG]

Well, Everybody getting equal everything sounds attractive.

Except when you consider everything else. Like Talent, oppertunity and usefulness of somebodies intellect over the common fool. Other than that, It's good for brainless societies to follow.

    Which the human race is.

    Well, a majority of it.

You're right, communism does sound good.
I mean, if it all works perfectly, you get paid in food and shelter and feel good knowing your work is for the benefit of humanity.

Kinda like a slave on a plantation.
