Black is not a colour because black is only seen when there is a complete absence of light, such as a shadow. Since colour is seen via the reflection of light, if no light was reflected no colour would be evident. Therefore it is classified as a shade. How much of the above is actually accurate? (This is what I remember about light so it may not be factual)
