A tulpa is a seperate consciousness that exists in your body created by sheer willpower alone. Tulpas are sentient, and think independently from the host. They can also take control of your body, but that takes a LOT of practice. No worries though, they can only take control of your body with your permission, implied or explict. There is also something else called "switching" in which the host and the tulpa completely switch places. Not to be confused with Full Body Posession. The practice of creating one originated from Tibetian Buddhism, and remained pretty obscure to anyone who isn't a Tibetian Buddhist for a long time. In the 1970s, some books were written on the subject of tulpas, but they never really picked up speed. However, in 2007, it gained popularity on 4chan's /x/ board, and then was eventually moved to /mlp/ because tulpas especially appealed to bronies. Nowadays though, there are several independent websites about tulpas, most notably, tulpa.info But, think of it like this. Having a tulpa is like playing life with a co-pilot And no, I'm not a buddhist. I'm actually an atheist, believe it or not. I attack tulpas from a scientific standpoint, rather then a religious one.
