Narrowleaf turned around. "Go, my sisters. Be free!!" He called. He drew his scythe and swung it around. "Back off!" He said to the stallion following him.
Puck: Puck silently snuck into the bookstore, bag of vile blue petals in hoof. Positioning the bag on his foreleg as if he were about to sneeze, Puck breathed in deeply, and faked a powerful sneeze, blowing the petals in the non-earth pony's direction.
Blackout wandered through the bookstore, eventually settling on a book about Changelings. He had always been fascinated by the creatures that had nearly conquered Canterlot. Being the son of one of Equestria's most corrupt businessponies, he envied their ability to become somepony else at will. If he could, he would do the same. Picking up the book, as well as a few others that he thought Heart Song might enjoy, he walked to the counter to pay.
Puck: Wiping his muzzle as if he had legitimately sneezed, Puck stood up straight and stopped sneaking - for now. Continuing to watch the non-earth pony, Puck noticed the pony bringing a book about changelings to the counter, most likely so that he could buy it.
"Bless you." Blackout looked at the petals that had suddenly appeared. He levitated them carefully towards the Pegasus that had sneezed. "Be careful with those. Poison Joke is nasty stuff."
Puck: "Hm? Oh, yes, indeed." Puck responded casually, before returning to the act of "browsing" around the different books in the store.
As Blackout set his bits on the counter, the store owner looked over at Heart Song, who was waiting near the door. The old stallion laughed. "Finally got yourself a Dirt Pony, I see. Your father will be proud." Ignoring the angry look on Blackout's face, he continued. "Not half bad looking, either... you can have some fun with... what the hay?!" The bookstore was suddenly plunged into darkness. When the light finally returned, the store owner was on the floor with a black eye, a pile of bits lay on the counter, and Blackout and Heart Song were gone.
Cracky continued his leisurely stroll throughout the market, having abandoned the slavehouse after chatting with his good friend. He got lightly surprised as two ponies, one an earth pony -which he assumed was a slave- ran past him. "Hm. Lively street today." He looked far over to another set of ponies, a slave owner and her pet. Although, something was pissing Cracky off about it. The slave owner cracked his whip down on his slave, who seemingly had been "disobedient". He noticed Cracky stepping in on the situation. The slave looked up at Cracky with terrified eyes, hatred surging within them. Cracky naturally looked back at her with calm eyes. "Well, can you let some information out about what caused this?" The slave owner looked upon him, cautious for any movement Cracky might make. "This is none of your business." The slave owner hissed back out at him. Cracky only sighed and shook his head slowly. "Well, if you're gonna be like that..." He took off his headset and offered it to the owner, asking if he wanted to listen to some music. Once the owner put them on, curious of his offer, though... In one swift motion, Cracky swipped up his cellphone, linked it to the headset and set off a blast of bass-level sounds, enough to make the owner scream in pain for a few seconds before falling down unconscious to the ground. He slipped off the headset of the now probably deaf pony, shifting around his neck. He looked over to the dirt pony, took her hoof and helped her up, smiling and nodding calmly. "Come here, i will take you to my abode." He said, supporting her as they began walking back his steps.
Several blocks away from the bookstore, Blackout and Heart Song stopped running. They looked at each other, and began laughing. Heart Song was impressed by his willingness to fight for the honor of a mere slave. "That... was amazing. Thank you. Nopony has ever fought for me before." He grinned. "It was my pleasure. A beautiful pony like you..." He stopped speaking and turned away. "I... I am sorry. I should not be saying such things." If his father were to find out that he was falling for a "Dirt Pony," he wouldn't just disown him. He would likely have him killed.
Atalanta was happily, what she thought', was free, she was doing things she had done long time back, when she was living in the Everfree
Narrowleaf was suddenly blasted backwards as he was shot by a spell from a unicorn slaver. "Get away from that dirt horse! He's dangerous!" The mare slaver called. "He's known as The Stalker. He stalks slavers, then disappears into the woods with the slaves when the slavers are asleep."
Robin was pleased that Atalanta was happy with it but ran in the forest after her. After catching up he turned to her. "I'm happy to see that your thrilled to be free but come inside. Get you out of those slave identification rags, get cleaned up, dress in some upper class mare dressers and have something to eat. You'll even get your own bow soon. Although until then why not enjoy yourself and act/dress like an upper class unicorn mare".
"I don't like wearing much clothes, especially that made by other ponies, or machines…", Atalanta said, walking with robin
"at least you can get out of those identification rags. Anyway, I know this abolitionist that could help craft you a magically infused horn. Though you won't be able to do much, just basic levitation." he opened the door to reveal a decadent and posh hallway. Narrowleaf sprinted off, dodging any magic thrown his way. He eventually made his way to a mansion, where he kicked the door in, and held his scythe against a unicorn stallion's throat. "Hide me, or die!!" He commanded. "And you, mare... Get out of here. Run into the woods. There's a cabin waiting for you."
Well, to be fair, 24 would be a reasonably advanced age if we were living thousands of years ago when almost all humans were living in small hunter-gatherer tribes. Most people didn't survive into their thirties, from what I've heard. It is amusing to think that most of the age-related diseases that have been afflicting our aging population, as emotionally and financially draining as dealing with them can be for families, are actually a sign of just how good people have it today compared to even relatively recent history.
"It's your life and I'm not here to to control what you can and can't do. Anyway enjoy yourself your rooms the 2nd on the right upstairs and dinner will be served in two hours". He smiled as he went to fetch something coming back to give Atalanta a steel and birch recurve bow. "We get a lot of unwanted attention so this could come in useful for you".
(I don't want to be the elephant in the room, but a stallion just kicked a door in, and is shouting death threats.) "Go, miss!! The woods! There's a cabin!" Narrowleaf screamed. "I'll take care of this... Scum!! Go!" He held the scythe tighter.
"Wait I'm not the bad guy here. My names Robin Hoof, Earl of Loxely and abolitionist. I have freed Atalanta here and while in this 25 acre estate all slaves are free. Who else do you think allowed the cabin to be built when it's technically on my property". He smiled moving the scythe away with his magic.
Atalanta sighed,"umm, I'm sorry I can't take this bow…", then she turned to narrow,"I'll leave when I'm ready…"
