"Mmhm," she said, putting on the helmet. "See you later." *** Arlo smiled widely. "It just... turned into it?" he teased.
He nodded, fidgeting with his camera thoughtfully. "Bye." *** She looked at the ground. "I guess. There were other elements involved, too. I mean, it's not as good of a story as yours.
"Bye," she said, gunning the engine. She sped off, her black hair coming free of her braid as she drove around the corner and disappeared. *** "I think it's really sweet, actually," Arlo said. "Really natural."
He watched her go, before turning and heading off to take photographs. *** She smiled slightly. "It's nice, mostly."
"Yeah," she said, tilting her head. "I mean, don't most relationships hit rough patches every once in awhile?"
She smiled. "Soul mates don't necessarily mean partners, right? It could be friends too. Like, this person was meant to be your friend?"
"Nice talking to you too," he said with a grin. "Hopefully it's less awkward now. I'll be honest; I actually didn't know you were going to walk in the same direction as me."
