She frowned and looked like she was going to protest before sighing. Unstrapping the glove from her wrist, she pulled it off, wincing slightly. Her thin hand was normally on the paler side, but there was an angry red line on the side of it and her warped skin was riddled with the blisters. *** "What about reading, though? What about arithmetic?"
He took her hand and inspected it, his eyes furrowed with a concentrated frown. "I think you should at least wrap it up." *** "Do it with the dogs?"
She shook her head. "It hurts when I wrap it. I'm fine, seriously." *** "What, like one dog plus two dogs equals three dogs?"
She took her hand back hastily, putting it back in her glove. "What, you're a medic now?" *** "That would never work."
She squinted at him, wincing as she tightened the strap. "I don't need any help." *** "Why can't they be in your shop?"
She blinked and hurt registered in her eyes for a moment before anger took its place. "Ignorant, am I?" she asked tersely, her eyes fierce. *** "I could say the same for my classroom."
She stepped back, her brow furrowed before she adjusted her glove, her jaw tight with anger. "I can't get help. You should know that." *** "So do... customers. I'm sure."
" You're not even doing anything to help! You could at least wrap it!" *** She raised an eyebrow. "You think?"
"I tried, Landon! It made my writing hand completely useless. I cannot afford to be useless right now!" *** "I know. Trust me on this."
"You're not completely useless! You're not even the slightest bit useless." He frowned. "Why can't you listen?" *** "I can't trust you on this!"
"Why can't you listen?" she asked in frustration, throwing her hands in the air. "I'm leaving. I'll see you later." *** "Do you not want 1000 dogs?"
She didn't respond, only ran her fingers through her hair in frustration before turning on her heel and heading for her bike, her frame tense and alert. *** "900?"
His face looked panicked, but he didn't say anything. Only looked at the ground nervously. *** "Maybe 70?"
She slipped onto the bike before pulling the helmet over her head, gunning the engine, and driving out of the parking lot at a breakneck speed, turning the corner and disappearing. *** "70?! That's so few!"
