He watched with a cocked head before slowly turning back to call a cab. *** "80?"
"100," Arlo said firmly. "Final offer."
She crossed her arms. "95 maybe?"
"Do you understand what final offer means?"
"No, I understand," she said. "Just haggling."
"100 dogs," he repeated firmly. "Agreed?"
She crossed her arms. "Fine. Agreed."
His grin grew wider. "And we'll store them in your apartment. Agreed?"
He nodded decisively. "50 with me, 50 with you?"
"Or," he began raising a finger, "98 with you, two with me."
"That's not fair!" She frowned. "That's not fair."
"I'm being generous here. Don't you want 98 dogs?"
"Don't you?"
"I do, but I'm being generous. It's the right thing to do."
"You've already been too generous, Arlo."
He raised an eyebrow. "You want more dogs?"
She frowned. "I wasn't referring to that."
He paused, cocking his head. "What were you referring to?"
She frowned. "The money?"
"Oh! Right. Well, those were wonderful sweaters and you worked really hard on them."
