Arlo cursed on the other end and there was the sound of scuffling, as if he were moving around their apartment. "Okay. Uh.. Okay. I'm going to go look for her. Could you please let me know if she... I don't know. If she calls or something?"
There was a moment's silence on the other end before he sighed. "Okay. Thank you. I'm going to track her phone, see if I can get her location. If I can get the address, do you want to meet me there?"
"See you," he said, then hung up. He turned to Callie, who was half asleep. Leaning down, he kissed her cheek. "I have to go. I'm sorry, baby. I love you," he told her softly. She turned her head slightly. "Love you." Her voice was tired. "See you."
Arlo took a deep breath and nodded before heading for the front door of the shop. The door opened smoothly, ringing a bell somewhere behind the register. The store was small and lit with dangling lights, yellow with age. At the sound of their entrance, an elderly man peered around the corner of the shelves at them, his bushy eyebrows raised. “Good morning,” he said curiously. “How may I help you?”
