When Arlo pulled up to the hospital, his breaths made clouds in the air. He stepped out and waited for Landon.
Arlo followed and they entered the busy hospital. He approached the secretary. “Excuse me,” he said. “We’re here to see Valerie Cooper?” The secretary searched and frowned. “I’m sorry, sir, but I’m not seeing her in our records...”
Arlo paused and his eyes widened. “I see. Thank you.” He pulled Landon away. “She didn’t want to go to the hospital,” he said quietly, his voice terrified.
“I don’t know,” he said, tugging his fingers. “She would have come here, right? This is the closest one.”
Arlo ran his fingers through his hair. “Landon, you know the case better than I did. Why wouldn’t she have wanted to go to the hospital?”
“And her hand was messed up because of the timers...” Arlo said quietly. “Which you guys discovered... here.”
He frowned, pulling on his fingers. “So... what? She was taken here against her will by the ambulances and they found out that she had been the one messing with the timers?”
