Back at it Again (One-on-One)

“Alright guys. Get your science notebooks out, okay?”

Arlo returned to his desk, making a quick note on the schedule.

 

Arlo’s head lifted and he spoke to the class before going over to the door and opening it.

“Guys, get your butterflies, okay?”

 

The grin that seized his face was eager.

“Cal! Hi! No, you’re not interrupting. Come on in.”

 

“Stuff? What stuff?”

 

“Oh! Right. Yes. Here, go ahead and sit at my desk and we’ll talk.”

 

The students began to gradually recognize her and small voices called out to her from around the class.

“Callie! Hi!”

“Callie, my coat is in my cubby! Want to see?”

“Callie, are you here to make ALL of us coats?”

“Callie, I like your hair!”

 

They grinned at her before Arlo cleared his throat.

“Okay, guys. Draw today’s chrysalis stage and I’ll be with you in a second.”

He came over to his desk and sat across from her, giving her a slight smile.

“It’s good to see you!”

 

“Ah! Right. Well, it got approved by the school, so we’re all set. What supplies would you need?”

 

“Oh? I see. Well, you will be compensated for it.”

 

He laughed lightly.

“Don’t worry. I won’t be the one paying you.”
