She couldn't help but laugh, turning and sitting in the snow, lying back. "Or not."
He tossed some snow at her playfully. “You can’t deny it.”
She brushed off the snow. "I am denying it right now."
“Yeah, but your true intentions are clear.”
She squinted at him. "Maybe it's just what you want to hear."
“Me? I’m happy where I am in life.”
"I can understand that," she said. "Loving girlfriend, cats, a steady job. Seems like a good setup."
He turned towards her. “Aren’t you happy?”
She nodded thoughtfully. "Of course. There's are a few rough edges sometimes, as always."
He frowned. “Still worries about the mission?”
She sighed. "Yeah. A bit. I can see how they're soul mates, you know. It's weird.."
He cocked his head. "What do you mean?"
"They seem like they connect, I've noticed."
He frowned slightly. "Couldn't you say the same for us, though?"
She looked up at him. "I could say that. You have a point."
"We're all happy with who we're with, right?"
She nodded carefully. "Right."
"Right. So there's nothing to worry about."
She nodded. "Right."
He laughed lightly. "Plus, doesn't Val scare Landon?"
