He gave her a grin. "Of course!" *** She nodded agreeably. "Good. Good. Next, we're going to pull the string through, and stick it in the fabric again. We will repeat this multiple times."
She hurried forward, frowning slightly. "Here. You'll need this," she said, passing him her pistol. * * * (Yep! Maybe the kids have gone home for the day?)
He took it hesitantly, frowning slightly. "Okay.." *** Callie sat at a desk, putting things back into her bag.
She pulled another pistol out of her bag, thumbing the trigger. "Do you know how to use these?" * * * Arlo walked over to her, pushing his glasses further up his nose. "That went well, right?"
She gave him a look. “Landon, do you need to learn how to use a gun?” *** He nodded. “Yeah. They think you’re a pretty cool cat.” He flushed slightly. “I don’t know why I just phrased it like that.”
He frowned. "Yeah.." *** She smiled softly, resting her head on her hand. "You are too. Don't worry."
She rolled her eyes affectionately before pulling him off to the side. “Okay, so hold it like this.” She demonstrated, her feet about shoulder length apart and her hands on the gun. *** He looked down at her warmly before he bit his lip. “Can I ask you something?”
She frowned before stepping closer to adjust his finger on the trigger. “Not quite. Like this.” Her fingers were thin but warm despite the chilly weather and she watched his hand attentively. *** He hesitated, knowing that this could change everything. “... if you don’t think this is the case, then tell me and I’ll never speak of it again. But...” He ran his fingers through his hair before sighing. “Is there something here? Between us?”
He hesitated, then nodded. "I see." *** She was quiet for a moment, her eyes uncertain. "Well.." She frowned. "I think so. Maybe."
“Yes. Now.” *** Arlo’s eyes widened. “What? No, no, I don’t. I’m just surprised that you feel that way.”
The gun clicked, with no ammo in the chamber. “Excellent. You just shot an imaginary human. Great work.” *** He exhaled before nodding, leaning against the wall. “Yeah. Yeah, I do.”
