She pinched the bride of her nose. “We have two people at our respective homes who care about us and we’re risking it all for this story.”
“Yes. I’m doubting it, Landon. Can’t you understand that? I’m scared.” Her voice cracked slightly and she cleared her throat, pressing her fingertips to her eyelids as if warding off a bright light. “I’m scared.”
