"His name is Jack," she replied quietly. "His wife is Avice." *** "I need to find a playground," he said with authority. He softened slightly and gave her a grin. "For the kids."
He nodded, frowning slightly. "I see." *** She laughed, crossing her arms. "That shouldn't be too hard. I'm sure it'll be easy to find."
Jack led them into a living room and gestured to the chair. "Please, sit down," he said quietly. "Avice will be here in a minute. Can I get you anything?" *** "You'd be surprised," he said with a frown. "So many of them are places for junkies. We have to be careful of stray needles."
Landon smiled politely. "Oh, no thank you." At the moment, a pretty woman with brown hair and sky blue eyes entered the room. She looked weary, but showed them a gentle smile nonetheless. "The interviewers?" *** "Well," she thoughtfully, "maybe if you find a park near a police station or something similar, there will be less tweakers."
She nodded, kissing his cheek before going to take a seat across from them. "Okay. Thank you two for coming."
Jack came over and sat next to her, rubbing her back slightly "What would you like to know?" *** "Perhaps," Arlo said with a nod. "But there aren't many stations nearby here."
Landon glanced at Val, then his camera. He stood up, looking at the ground. "Do you mind if I take a look around?" he asked curiously, his voice considerate. Avice was quiet before giving a nod. "Go ahead." *** "That's true," she said. "I mean, I know there's this one, but it's kinda deep in the woods, not really an official playground."
Val flipped open her notepad and looked up at the two of them. "Can you tell me about the events leading up to your daughter's death?" she asked. *** He laughed. "Sounds sketchy."
Avice paused, looking at the ground. "It happened soon after timer stopped," she said simply, but her voice sounded so hopeless. "It just stopped one day, so we assumed something happened.. I didn't really expect anything would happen to her as well." Landon wandered off, looking around the house. *** "Maybe," she said with a small smile. "It's kinda cool."
Jack rubbed her back and looked down at the ground. "She was so sad about losing her timer," he said quietly. "And then she got so sick so suddenly..." He sighed, and his shoulders slumped. * * * "Lead me there?"
Avice leaned her head on his shoulder, her voice soft. "It happened so fast. It was terrible. Nobody could have expected it." *** She looked around, as if assessing where she was before giving him a firm nod. "Alright. Follow me."
Avice frowned. "A brain hemorrhage." *** When she walked it was light and casual, her gait natural and brisk as she observed the surrounding area.
Val wrote it down with a frown. "Did she attend any riots with other timerless?" * * * He was quiet for a moment. "So... what do you think about the whole story our significant others are doing?"
Avice blinked. "I.. don't know. She might have." *** "I think it's a little crazy," she admitted, looking back at him. "I don't know about it."
Val nodded. "Did she have any enemies?" *** He nodded with a frown. "I'm a little worried, to be honest."
