Back at it Again (One-on-One)

She flipped open her book and frowned, her eyes scanning the pages.

"If you say so."

 

She laughed lightly.

“You’re very optimistic, aren’t you?”

 

“God. I will never understand you.”

 

“Just... everything about you is so unfamiliar to me.”

 

“That and everything else. You and I are just so... different.”

 

She laughed lightly.

“I guess so. Oil and water.”

 

“Yeah,” she said flatly. “We’re both human. That doesn’t make us any closer. In fact, I think we’d probably be closer if I was something other than human. A dog, maybe.”

 

"Cat, dog... either way, we'd probably have a flourishing relationship if I were one of them."

 

“Then you could excuse my blunt behavior for ‘just being a cat.’”

 

“That’s true! And I don’t like people!”
