She met his gaze for a moment before sighing, finishing the rest of her coffee. "Okay then. Well, I'd better get home and start writing then."
She tied her hair back before giving him a small smirk, knocking on his head playfully. "You're alright, Landon. I'll see you later. Thanks for the help."
She smiled slightly before turning on her heel and leaving the cafe, her ponytail swinging lightly as she headed down the street.
(Yeeeeep! Let’s do a meeting first.) There was a chilling space between them and Arlo didn’t like it. He bit his lip, glancing at his girlfriend out of the corner of his eye. She didn’t seem to notice, flipping through the notebook that she had found a few days prior. He sighed and put down his book, turning to face her fully. “Val, can we talk about this?” She glanced up, her green eyes as cold as when they had first met. The tip of her nose was red from the winter chill and she raised one eyebrow, regarding him for a moment. “There’s nothing to talk about,” she said eventually, her tone even. Arlo felt his jaw clench and he sighed, shaking his head. “I thought you’d want to know, okay? I tried to think what I’d want in the situation and I think I’d want to know!” “You think that,” she replied sharply, her eyes narrowed. “But you’ve also never had to worry about it because I have always been yours. Completely yours. I have never been even slightly interested in other people and you’ve never had to be concerned that I was in love with someone else.”
They both looked up as he approached and Val seemed to relax as he sat down, whereas Arlo seemed to tense slightly. Val leaned back in the sofa. “Hey, Landon.”
