Arlo reached for her hand and Val tensed, not returning the action. He sighed and let go. “I still love you,” he told her. “I’m still yours.” She shook her head, pulling away from him. “Not completely.” She left the cafe quickly, tucking her hair behind her ear.
He grinned at her, waving her in. “Hey, Cal. Guys, go ahead and put your notebooks away and get out your fabric, all right?”
Callie pulled the bag off her should as she stepped in, her head cocked slightly as she turned to Arlo. "How are you?"
His smile seemed slightly strained and he hesitated. “I’m alright,” he said eventually. “How are you?”
