"Overpopulation?" *** Her fingers twitched, but she didn't pull away. "I can't believe you lied to me."
"We have notes and everything." *** She shook her hand, angry with finding herself disappointed that he pulled away. "It's alright."
Maxine had to laugh. “The government? We’re not a conspiracy magazine.” *** He raised an eyebrow. “Oh?”
He frowned. "I knew you would say that.." *** She nodded. "I tend not to do it with friends, though."
She squinted at him. “You need some very strong proof here.” *** He laughed, glancing down at her. “Yeah. Sorry about that.”
“Anything other than photos?” *** He cleared his throat before looking down at the ground. “Anyway. I should probably go.”
“From who?” *** “Yeah...” He paused before looking up at her. “I don’t know. I think that maybe we should avoid spending time together.”
“Scientists? Where did you find them?” *** “It’s just...” He rubbed the back of his neck. “I think... I think I may like you too much.”
"A lab in a warehouse.." *** She looked down, before glancing back up a him with a crooked smile that might have seemed a little sad. "So no butterflies?"
She frowned, leaning back in her chair skeptically. “A warehouse?” *** He watched her carefully before adopting a smile. “Well, I’m not one to keep a girl away from beautiful butterflies.”
Val stepped in. "Yeah. A warehouse. It's an undercover operation. We have lots of proof, Maxine. The only thing we need is for you to wrap your mind around it." *** "I want to," he insisted, stepping closer. "I promise, okay?"
