She squinted at him, pulling her coat tighter around herself. “Hmph. Fine. I gotta head home anyway.”
She gave him a small wave before turning and heading down the street, tucking her hands in her pocket.
Val let herself into the apartment, greeting the cat as he approached her and wrapped around her legs. She walked into the living room and saw Arlo, sitting on the couch and waiting for her. A smile slipped on her face and she sat next to him, wrapping her arms around her torso. “Hey, baby,” she said warmly, leaning against him. “What are you doing?” He looked down at her, kissing the top of her head, inhaling the scent of her perfume. “...I’m sorry, Val. I’m so sorry.” She froze and pulled away, studying his face. “Why... why are you sorry?” He looked down at her and inhaled before beginning to speak. (Zoop?)
Val texted him early one morning. “Maxine hasn’t answered any of my calls. I’m going back to the building to talk to her today.” *** Arlo’s eyes were puffy and he rubbed them as he sat on a wood stump in the woods, hoping to get rid of some of the swelling.
His reply was quick. "Oh, okay. Want me to come with?" *** Callie walked. She debated on it that day, considering the situation.
“If you’d like. I don’t care either way.” *** Arlo stood up and turned his head nack to look up at the sky, a frown crossing his face.
It took her a while to reply. “Okay. Okay. Thanks.” *** He looked down at her, his head cocked. He paused before shaking his head.
(Zoop?) *** She hesitated, her brows furrowed before wrapping her arms around him, obviously a bit nervous if he didn't want her to hug him.
